Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been a weird holiday for me. Ten years ago I had a rather emotionally painful Thanksgiving. Nine years ago, I went to a friend's family's house where my friend and I were the only non-Spanish speaking individuals in a home of Cuban and Ecuadorians! The food, though, was great. Eight years ago I took my first flight, from Chicago's Midway to Raleigh-Durham, to visit my grandparents. Four years ago was my first Thanksgiving with my adoptive older "sister", Kati. Kati is the best. Three years ago was the Turducken Thanksgiving. Two years ago there must have been something in the water because shortly thereafter we learned of my sister in law's pregnancy, and then I got pregnant just after that. One year ago my 4 week old baby slept through dinner. And yesterday, that big girl toddler of mine gnawed on cauliflower, pineapple, ham, stuffing, rolls, green beans, and cranberry sauce while intently staring at Myla, the Greyhound doggie.
